B.Sc. MATHEMATICS MODEL I
The Department was established in the year 1964 and was upgraded as UG Department in 1968. It is now an ISO 9001:2015 certified department which offers undergraduate course in Mathematics with Numerical Analysis as Choice Based Course.
The Programme is offered as per the syllabus of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The three-year programme enables the students to build a concrete base on foundations of Mathematics, and also help them to learn basic concepts in most of the relevant areas in Mathematics, as well as to create a general idea on pure and applied Mathematics as they progress from first year to third year.
The programme equip them to acquire necessary basics in all areas of Mathematics which make them eligible to apply for a Post Graduate Programme in Mathematics in reputed institutions including IITs. The programme also open wide horizons, in creating environment consciousness and also enables the students to visualize the beauty of Mathematics in nature and in real life.
After the successful completion of the three-year undergraduate programme, the students will be eligible to pursue a variety of Post-Graduate Programmes like M. Sc Mathematics, M. Sc Statistics, M. Sc Actuarial Science, M. Sc. Operations Research, M.C.A, M. B. A, M.B.E etc. They can also opt for PG Diploma courses in the area of Computer Science. The programme imparts strong foundation on analytical, logical and reasoning skills, which equip the students to get through many of the general competitive examinations conducted by public boards. The employability skills acquired throughout the programme will help the students to get placed in various positions like Bank Probationary Officer, Bank Clerk, Skill Development Trainer, Consultant, Customer Relationship Officer, Mathematics subject Matter Expert in Online Tutoring firms etc.
Equip the students to understand the basic and advanced concepts in Mathematics, thereby creating a passion towards learning Mathematics, so as to enable them to explore the applications of Mathematics in real life, and also to mould them academically, intellectually and professionally in order to be at par with the highly demanding and competing professional world.
