Skilled human resources are the need of the hour and ASAP (Additional Skill Acquisition Programme) which is a joint initiative of Government of Kerala along with the Higher Education Department and General Education Departments. It began with the intention of enhancing the skill ecosystem by offering skill courses and tackles the issue of growing unemployability of human resources in the state.
Often referred to as the ‘harbinger’ of change in the educational system of Kerala, ASAP provides students with opportunities to do internships at public sector companies. The very structure of ASAP is based on Industry-Academia Linkages that would equip students to meet various challenges in the modern workplace. The promise of quality and standard skill education in Kerala is met out by ASAP by offering sensibly constructed industry-relevant skill modules which imparts the youth with employability skills.
ASAP program in St Xavier’s College flagged off with a Mass Recruitment Campaign titled “Thousand Splendid Stars” in 2013. ASAP provides various short term training programs like 21 Days’ Residential Training Program for recruiting SDEs (Skill Development Executives), Summer Skill School Training for the final year degree students, and Foundation Course for the first-year students.
St.Xavier’s College for Women, Aluva was awarded the Five Star Excellence Award for the successful conduct of the Twenty One Days Residential Program (for selected final year Under Graduate and Post Graduate students of Arts & Science Colleges & University Departments ) in the year 2016 in association with Additional Skill Acquisition Program (ASAP), a joint initiative of General Education Department and Higher Education Department, Government of Kerala
