Introduction

B.Voc in Culinary arts and Hospitality Management is a three-year intensive programme with multiple entry and exits at the end of each year. The programme exposes the student to the diversity of food industry and enriches them with intellectual & leadership capabilities. The program is blended with value education inputs and emphasis on holistic development of the students.  The course study enables the candidate to gain adequate culinary skills to meet the ever growing demands of the hotel and tourism industry. The course will train the students to move into diverse managerial roles in prestigious national & international hospitality organisations. The programme will provide students with an in depth understanding of kitchen operations and knowledge of the underlying principles of the food industry.

The course will prepare graduates for management careers in hospitality sectors such as Hotels, Resorts, Cruise Liners, Restaurant and Catering Organisations. The course offers adequate entrepreneurial flair and commercial insight in candidates to start up their own ventures.

MoUs and Collaborations

The department of Chemistry, St.Xavier’s College for Women Aluva has signed an MoU with The Renai Kochi,a well known chain Restaurant existing in India with an international standard. This provides our students to get employed after the course.

Various visiting guest faculty from the Food Processing and Preservation Industry  as well as the experienced faculty of the institute would be sharing their knowledge, information, experience, technology with students

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility condition for admission to B.Voc. programme shall be 10+2 or equivalent, in Science and Home Science stream.

Culinary art and Hospitality management Industry is one of the major employment intensive segments constituting 12.13 per cent of employment generated in all Registered Factory sector in 2019-20. According to the latest Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) for 2019-20, the total number of persons engaged in registered Culinary art and hospitality management sector is 25.77 lakhs.
