M.A English Language and Literature

PROGRAMME: M.A English Language and Literature

Master of Arts In English Language and Literature The Department of English started offering Masters in English since 2001.  There are twenty papers offered for the course in four semesters. Written English language narratives are studied in relation to literary and cultural contexts. 

• A wide variety of literary periods and cultural narratives and literatures are covered in four semesters of the course.  There are three elective papers for the course in the fourth semester. The end semester project and viva voce are compulsory components of the course.  The evaluation of core and elective components and the project will be done in two parts that is through internal assessment and end semester external examination. 
• The programme is strictly in compliance with the UGC Minimum Standards for the conduct and award of Post Graduate Degrees.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

The programme prepares the learners to reflect on the social and ethical dimensions of research and for careers in secondary and higher education, content development, creative visualization, publishing and translation.  Some of the career options available for the students are as teachers in Universities or Colleges across the country and abroad, researcher, digital copywriter, English as a foreign language teacher, lexicographer, secondary school teacher, journalist, web content manger, writer, educational consultant, marketing executive and diverse careers in all the service sectors ranging from social work to aviation.
