Perpetuating the Vision of  Rt. Rev. Msgr. Augustine Maveli, Rev. Mother Magdelene C.T.C., and Very Rev. Mother Isabel C.T.C. (Superior General, CTC)St. Xavier’s College for Women, has constantly preserved and effused Goodness and Truth in its endeavour to impart qualitative higher education for women. With 60 years of glorious history, this educational establishment has been instrumental in molding thousands of truly educated girls. The college started functioning on 6th of July, 1964 with four batches of Pre- Degree classes with the total strength of 238 students and 22 members of the Teaching staff. It was raised to the status of a degree College in 1968. It now offers Degree courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Zoology- Vocational, Economics, Malayalam, English Literature, Communicative English and Commerce. Post Graduate courses in Commerce, Physics, English and Microbiology started in 1984, 1998 and 2001 respectively. Keeping with the grand tradition of providing students access to latest technology, St. Xavier’s College has implemented virtual class room in its campus from December 2005. We have the credit of becoming the second college in the state to provide this facility and the first women’s college in the state.

Under the able leadership of Rev. Sr. Speciosa, St. Xavier’s College was accredited to the four star status by NAAC in 1999. The college was re-accredited at B++ grade, during the tenure of Rev. Sr. Charles in 2006. In 2012, NAAC reaccredited the college with A grade under the leadership of Rev Sr. Percy and in 2017 during the tenure of Rev. Sr. Reethamma CTC, the college was reaccredited by NAAC with A Grade CGPA 3.33.The college was awarded A++ Grade (CGPA 3.68) in the fifth cycle by NAAC in 2022.

The Add-On Programmes on E-Banking, E-Marketing and Security Analysis are offered from 2004 and Tally from 2009 by the Department of Commerce. From 2008, the Add-on courses on Computer Application by the Department of Physics and from 2011, Add- On Course on Human Right Education by Dept. of Economics have been introduced.

The Xaverian campus life proffers the students with an enlivening ambiance inducing them to be not only physically fit, but intellectually well equipped; nor merely cultured and refined but thoroughly schooled and disciplined. Thus the college contributes to transform young girls to be women of quality and to be leaders in all walks of life so that they may radiate in the cultural and social horizons By catering to a student population that hails from rural and semi urban background, special efforts are taken to valuate them at the entry level to gauge their potential and to achieve possible level of competence. Confidence is infused into them through a number of personality development programmes and seminars. In order to make them aware of effective role in society and social responsibility, a number of community related programmes are organized.

Value education is rendered through spiritual formation sessions. Efforts are taken to foster harmonious relationship and sense of relatedness to the environment and to make them aware of current environmental hazards. Through the academic community consisting of faculty, staff and students the college create, integrate, and disseminate knowledge, and foster in the students critical thinking and other intellectual skills along with the attitudes and abilities that enable them to live as educated, tolerant, and empowered leaders disseminating values to the society. Every young woman with a receptive mind finds her life in the campus a rewarding and stimulating experience. The legacy of St. Xavier inspires the young women to cherish traditional values and at the same time to be empowered to meet the challenges of a fast changing world.
