This programme is of four semester duration. During this programme, students get in- depth knowledge of the various branches of Physics like Classical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, Mathematical Physics, Nuclear Physics, Electrodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, Computational Physics, Solid State Physics, Spectroscopy and Electronics. In addition the students get lab exposure to various General Physics experiments, Electronic Experiments and to Computer Programming. A proper research culture is inculcated by doing a semester long project. By submitting good project proposals, they can avail financial support too. Students are exposed to scientific talks and seminars by eminent resource persons. Career guidance, Motivation and Training are provided to appear for competitive examinations like UGC – CSIR, NET-JRF, GATE etc.
Job Opportunities
Even though BSc and MSc Physics are not professional courses, these form the basic requirement of many careers. After completion of UG/PG, students can join for Teacher Training Programmes to qualify for the teaching jobs in High School/Plus Two levels. Students with research aptitude can join for PhD programmes or for research projects as research fellows. Going abroad for research is another option. A graduate is eligible for administrative jobs in Private or Public Sector or Government jobs by appearing for competitive examinations.
