The department of Malayalam was initiated in 1964 with a view to comprehend and preserve literature and culture and to transmit them to the coming generation.

It was elevated as a PG department in 2013.

The department of Malayalam aims at the upliftment of the community which stands backward in the cultural and economic scenario of the society.
