Assistant Professor

Dr. Anu Anto has been an Assistant Professor in Zoology since 2010, bringing 14 years of teaching and 22 years of research experience to her role. She has guided numerous research projects and published papers in reputable journals.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in “Entomofaunal dynamics and biochemistry of litter decomposition in a natural forest with special reference to the systematics of dung beetles” from the University of Calicut.
  • M.Sc. in Bio-informatics from Sikkim Manipal University.
  • M.Sc. in Marine Biology from Cochin University of Science & Technology.
  • B.Sc. in Zoology from Vimala College, Thrissur.
  • Awarded CSIR-UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and qualified for Lectureship-National Eligibility Test (NET).

Professional Experience:

  • Assistant Professor, P.G. Dept. of Zoology, Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha (Dec 2010 – Feb 2012).
  • Assistant Professor, Dept. of Zoology, St.Xavier’s College for Women (Autonomous), Aluva (Feb 2012 – present).

Research Interests:

Dr. Anu Anto is currently the Dean of Research in the college. She has a strong interest in field projects and citizen science activities. She has published 25 articles/books in national and international journals. She is also a research guide in Zoology at M.G. University, Kottayam. Her funded research projects include studies on coprophagous beetles, caudal autotomy in geckos, gastrointestinal parasites in snakes, and dengue vector surveillance
