Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology  was established as a self – financing four semester course in the year 2002 and  offers specializations in the areas such as agricultural microbiology, industrial microbiology, microbial genetics, food microbiology, microbial physiology & metabolism and clinical microbiology. The students  harness their theoretical knowledge and practical explorations in the areas of  Microbiology.  

The project work taken up by the students in the final semester gives them an insight into the research areas of the subject. After completion of M.Sc. Microbiology course, the students can go for further study  to enhance their skill and may pursue either M. Phil. or Ph.D. in Microbiology. Students are given opportunities to do reference work in institutions like Central Marine Fisheries research Institute, Kochi, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.The faculty members are goal – driven  and  dedicated  to help students achieve these goals  .
